O'Connor's monograph celebrates the life of Walt Whitman whom he designated ' the good gray poet'. First published in 1866 in pamphlet form, O'Connor's widow wrote the introduction in 1911; she died in 1913. Three Saunders adverts laid-in. All Saunders books were published in small editions.
