He first landed in Iceland, where he visited the then-minuscule Reykjavík, later towed close to Jan Mayen Island, then sailed on to Spitzbergen. With his irreverent and lively style his "Letters" can be regarded as the prototype of the comic travelogue. Fair in blue cloth, gilt pictorial cover design, cover stains, discolorations,spine split.
