Arthur Orton ( 1834-1898) was an English imposter who claimed to be the heir to the Tichborne estate,the son who had been lost at sea and was accepted by Lady Tichborne,his mother,as the rightful heir. He brought suit against the legal heir in a case that lasted 102 days but Orton was found to be a perjured claimant and was sentenced to 14 years in jail.
