First Edition. Published posthumously. Wellby's account of a year's hunting and exploration in the hinterland of Abyssinia in 1898, bagging hippo , tracking elephant and spear-hunting hartebeest, focusing on the landscape and natives. Montagu Sinclair Wellby (-1900) , author, big game hunter, explored Tibet as well as parts of Africa, officer of the Eighteenth Hussars, and died in 1900 from wounds received during the Boer War. Very Good in publisher's original brown cloth ( save for some rubbing along bottom edge), spine & cover titles in gilt, brown/white spear carrier on front cover. Frontispiece, full page photographs, numerous in-text photographs and illustrations, inner hinge tender, small corner clipped from front blank. Former inscription reads: "To Col.
