Andrus, Gauntlett & Co. Dr. Elijah White (1806-1879) Methodist missionary and agent for the United States government in Oregon Country during the mid 1800s, led wagon trains of settlers over the Oregon Trail. Good in full brown leather, black moroccan spine label, covers rubbed, small edge splits, prelims foxed , intermittent foxing throughout. otherwise internally Very Good. Faint pencil signature on the front endpaper reads " Philip Allen's book, 1852 " ; on the third blank at the rear in pencil reads " Philip Allen. Bought in Oregon 1860. Sold by A.J. Allen ___ illegible." We're assuming this to be Mrs. Allen's husband or son. 430p (p)
